I served my time as an apprentice joiner at an old country joiners shop where I gained many valuable skills in working with wood. I then somehow ended up at Glasgow university where I gained an MA (hons) and an appreciation of the aesthetic side of life. I spent a while exploring a few ideas I had for working with wood. This became a hobby which then became a business trading as Woodlore.
The idea is fairly simple; to make something from wood which still looks like wood. The beauty, and design, are often in the wood and it really just needs to be revealed. I use local hardwoods, usually windfall or natural wasteage for my creations, I then finish them with linseed, teak or danish oil.
